What happens when a Gujarati woman from Surat, a Romanian hotelier, an ancient Italian castle, and guests arriving from five continents converge for a wedding weekend? The answer is more than just a ceremony; it is an experience that redefines modern celebration. When I met Foram and Ionut, I realized we weren’t just planning a typical wedding reportage, we were crafting a visual narrative where culture, identity, and aesthetics blend without borders.

Foram and Ionut didn’t want the expected. They chose a 10th-century Italian castle as the stage to unite their worlds. Over three days, Gujarati Vedic rituals unfolded alongside European tailoring, Italian culinary traditions, and Romanian heritage. There was no wedding planner dictating the rules; everything was built on their personal vision, a mosaic of cultures where every detail held profound meaning.

My approach to this wedding was purely editorial. We began at sunrise, capturing an empty, iconic Rome, before transitioning to the vibrant, traditional Hindu ceremonies: the bride’s crimson lehenga, the heirloom jewelry, and the solemnity of the sacred fire.

I wanted the light and the architecture of Castello Brancaccio to be more than a backdrop; I wanted them to be a narrative element capable of bridging the energy of the Indian dhol beats with the magic of a dinner under the stars in Italy. The images presented here tell the story of a generation that no longer feels bound by geography, but empowered to create its own traditions.

Seeing this story published in Vogue India is not just a professional milestone; it is a testament to how couples like Foram and Ionut are reimagining what a wedding can look like. It is less about repeating the rituals of the past and more about weaving together multiple cultures, faiths, and visual languages to create something that is, finally, entirely their own.

Foram and Ionut’s wedding is a testament to how, when you allow space for personal history, the result is a timeless work of art.
